Description of Yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice using a combination of asana (poses), meditation, and pranayama (breath techniques). It teaches you to be present in the moment. Yoga may be uncomfortable, at times, but it should not be painful.

My intention as a yoga instructor is to help my students to form an exercise practice, no matter what age they are at. I help them to listen to their bodies and their inner selves, to find the courage to step out of their comfort zone and find what their body needs. Everyone's body is different, so in my classes, there is no judgement or competition. Each person has their own intention, their own edge that they are working towards on that day. There is no failure, just progress. I demonstrate poses with modifications so everyone can participate to the best of their ability, as well as challenge themselves. If you look around a class, you will see several variations of the same pose, as everyone is doing the pose that feels right for them that day.

I hope that my students experience the joy that this practice has given to me. I offer a variety of classes, including group or private, chair yoga and Yin yoga, depending on your personal needs and goals. Whether you want to tone your body, relieve aches and pains, or just reduce stress, there is something for everyone in the practice of yoga!
